The Art of Conservation is an international youth engagement program that connects students to the natural world through creativity, education, and storytelling. The program includes two annual contests—the Fish Art Contest and the Songbird Art Contest—that are free and open to K–12 students around the globe.
Using art, writing, and science-based learning, the contests highlight the importance of conserving wildlife, fish, and wild places. Each year, the program engages more than 10,000 students and serves as a platform for celebrating young voices in conservation.
As Program Manager, I lead the full scope of the Art of Conservation—from daily operations to long-term strategy. This includes overseeing branding, marketing, and communication efforts that connect with students, educators, and parents. Through thoughtful visuals and accessible messaging, I ensure that every touchpoint—whether digital or in print—feels both professional and personal
A New Website
When I joined Wildlife Forever, the Art of Conservation was simply a subpage on the broader organizational website. Navigation was clunky, and the storytelling behind the program was difficult to access. I led the development of a dedicated Squarespace website that now serves as the home for both contests. Designed with usability in mind, the site features simplified navigation and language to accommodate a global audience, including participants for whom English may not be their first language. The layout was intentionally structured to keep the spotlight on student artwork and to make the contest experience as seamless as possible.
Social Media
To grow visibility and engagement, I built out a consistent presence on Instagram and Facebook tailored to the program’s youth and educator audiences. Content includes contest countdowns, student spotlights, conservation facts, and award announcements—all designed to educate, celebrate, and motivate. These platforms also play a key role in recognizing the many partners and sponsors who make the contests possible. Every post is created with care to reflect the visual beauty of student submissions while building community around shared values in conservation.
Partnership & Outreach
Strong collaboration is essential to the success of the Art of Conservation. I created a suite of branded partnership documents that clearly communicate the value and logistics of getting involved. These materials are crafted to be visually compelling and easy to understand, with a focus on aligning partner goals with program needs. Whether it's a sponsorship package or a state host guide, each document reflects the same branding and tone used across all platforms, creating a consistent and professional experience.
Whether presenting at a national conference, leading a workshop, or helping judge submissions, I regularly represent the program through customized presentations. Each deck is carefully designed to highlight the talent and dedication of student participants while explaining how the specific goal and reasoning of the presentation. These presentations serve as both educational tools and advocacy moments, helping to grow awareness and support for youth-focused conservation initiatives.
